When it comes to Artificial Intelligence, new tools are being launched every year, along with updates and new features appearing almost every day.

You already know that these AI tools transform the way we work and create, and creative professionals need to stay ahead of the news to stand out.

We already have some favorites, but the advancement of AI in the market is rapid, and companies do not waste time in this race for innovation.

To put these main AI tools to the test, we used the same prompt in 5 AI tools that have delivered advanced results in image generation: Midjourney, Visual Electric, Kling AI, Krea, and Luma AI. Check out the results in this article!

How to generate a prompt using ChatGPT

To make this test even more interesting, we will use an initial image as a base. Thus, in addition to comparing the images with each other, we can evaluate the interpretation capacity of each tool regarding the inserted prompt.

The chosen image is from the Winter 2023 collection campaign by Aimé Leon Dore:

We placed this image in ChatGPT and asked it to describe a text that could be used as a prompt to generate the same image in different AI tools.

The generated prompt was: “A stylish black man standing in a retro-themed living room with wooden panel walls and vintage decor. He is wearing a long brown houndstooth overcoat over a gray sweatshirt that reads ‘Free Souls,’ paired with vibrant royal blue trousers and white sneakers. He accessorizes with a white and blue baseball cap featuring red text and holds a drink in his hand. The room is furnished with vintage wooden speakers, shelves with books and decor, and a mix of modern and old-school objects like a basketball and framed art. The lighting is warm and nostalgic, enhancing the retro aesthetic.”

And now, it's just a matter of inserting this same prompt into the 5 chosen AI tools. Let's go?

1. Midjourney: the most popular among AI tools for creatives

Midjourney was one of the pioneers among generative AI tools for creating quality images. And to this day, it continues to stand out among the most popular and innovative AI tools on the market.

This tool uses artificial intelligence models based on neural networks trained on large volumes of visual data. When you input a prompt, Midjourney processes the words and converts them into images, taking into account the provided details, such as style, colors, shape, and composition.

Therefore, the more detailed and specific your prompt is, the better the result will be. This gives Midjourney great flexibility, allowing designers, art directors, photographers, and other professionals in the creative field to explore new ways to create.

Looking at the prompt we generated in the previous section, it is possible to see that there is a high level of detail about the decor, the model, the clothes he is wearing, and even the pose. And Midjourney managed to take full advantage of this description, generating the following image as a result:

2. Visual Electric: the big promise of AI tools for 2025

If you are part of the creative market and involved in discussions about AI solutions and trends, you have certainly seen Visual Electric being mentioned several times.

This AI tool was launched at the end of 2023, about a year and a half after the first beta of Midjourney. Despite being a significant time for the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, Visual Electric has managed to deliver results that are just as good, if not better according to some users.

Our experiment reinforces this idea when Visual Electric delivers the result below, highlighting the details of the environment composition, realism, and lighting.

3. Kling AI: from trends to AI solutions

Kling AI is an AI tool from the same company that founded the social network Kwai. It became popular mainly for the ease of creating creative videos with AI from text or image prompts.

Have you seen the viral AI trend that makes people hug based on a photo? It is in Kling that it came to life.

Due to some of the results from that trend, Kling AI ended up with a slightly tarnished reputation. However, the platform has undergone updates that impress with their quality, making it one of the best tools for generating videos with AI currently.

In the text to image aspect, i.e., generating images from a text prompt, the tool did not disappoint in our experiment.

4. KREA: the favorite among AI tools with free plans

KREA is an artificial intelligence tool that stands out for its accessibility and advanced resources for image creation.

It became popular by offering a basic plan with a good amount of free credits for image generation. This difference allows users to experiment with creating AI images without initial costs.

In our test, KREA presented an interesting result. Although it did not reach the same level of visual detail as Midjourney or Visual Electric, it still delivered a fairly accurate interpretation of the prompt.

The texture of the image left something to be desired, but that is the type of detail that can be worked on in post-production (we will talk about this further on).

5. LUMA AI: the pioneer in creating 3D content with AI

Founded in 2021, Luma AI was initially focused on creating 3D models in a straightforward manner but soon redirected the company's goal to keep up with the emerging trend of generative artificial intelligence.

In 2023, Luma AI launched Photon, a state-of-the-art image model that allows for high-resolution and detailed image generation with greater efficiency than other comparable models. Currently, its main product is the Dream Machine, a video generation model with AI launched in mid-June 2024.

The performance of Luma AI in our experiment did not deviate from expectations in a general context. It is possible to perceive that the final result is quite close to the others and to the initial image. However, the details are less elaborated, and we cannot ignore the perspective error in the size of the basketball. But, again, these are details that could be corrected in post-production or even in some extra attempts at generating the prompt.

How post-production works in AI-generated images

Post-production in images generated by artificial intelligence is an indispensable step depending on the objective of your creation. Although some AI tools already have advanced results, refining the final version can make all the difference in your project.

Thinking about a commercial use of the images generated by AI, details regarding textures, realism, and resolution, for example, need to be impeccable.

This is possible with tools like Magnific AI, which we used on the images in our experiment. We performed an upscale on the images to improve resolution and refine details, considering that the idea was for the images to be part of a fashion photo shoot like the initial image of Aimé Leon Dore.

As you saw in this experiment, the sky is the limit when it comes to creating using AI tools. And we want to know, which tool delivered the best result in your opinion? Leave a comment on this post we made on the topic over on our Instagram!
